French experimental artist and composer Ludovic Gerst, A.K.A Frise Lumière, has announced details of his new single from his forthcoming album, Ambo, set for release on October 18 via his own label, Tapenade Records.
L’Écume Des Mots (translation: The Foam Of Words), is set for release this Friday, and ahead of its release, exclusive to Sun 13, you can listen to it below.
Speaking of the track, Gerst says:
“Foam is the whitish foam formed on the surface of the sea by the agitation of waves or by the meeting of currents. In this track, I wanted to highlight the words that may have been expressed against us, words that some people consider irrelevant to themselves. Sometimes words that are simply not expressed or explained, words that can leave certain visible or invisible traces on us in our everyday lives.”
Ambo follows the debut Frise Lumière release, Bisou Genou. The project began as a series of work sessions, collaborations, and experiments with dancers, artists, and textile designers before evolving into a fully solo project.
“Everything comes from raw textures, a noise, a note…” says Gerst. “[L]ike a voiceless chant trying to come to life, to cast itself out of a body, out of a mouth, out of this page, this bass. Hit, stroke, hijacked, refined to only itself, the instrument becomes both melodic and rhythmic, turning into percussion, letting through other voices, other breaths.”
