French noise experimentalists, Orbel, have announced the latest single from their forthcoming album Lur Hezea Reworks, which is set for release on May 12 via Usopop Diskak and Medication Time Records.
Heriozko Giltza is the latest single, which is a rework from fellow French producer, Paul Régimbeau a.k.a Mondkopf – no stranger around these parts, with his 2022 release, Spring Stories, landing at number three in our Top 50 Albums of 2022.
Set for release this Friday, exclusive to Sun 13, you can listen to Heriozko Giltza for the first time below.
Mastered by Thibault Chaumont (Carpenter Brut, Birds In Row, Ulver), Lur Hezea Reworks is a collection of reworked / remixed versions from Orbel’s 2022 release Lur Hezea. Alongside Mondkopf, the release is also set to feature worriedaboutsatan, Drowse, Almeeva, LucianMoreau, El_Txef_A, Tom Beaudouin and Lumi.
Talking of the Heriozko Giltza and the Mondkopf collaboration, Orbel comments:
“When we started thinking about remixing our whole record Lur Hezea Paul’s name was the first that came up. Not only because as an artist he is someone that we respect and follow since his early releases but also because he is someone we love as a friend. We share some really good memories in the Basque Country, our homeland, and all of that for us was super important for this collaboration.
“We feel that Paul really knows us at all levels so it was super easy to let our track go. We didn’t gave him any inputs and the result was of course pure magic. He managed to drive the song into new landscapes and gave us a complete new vision of it. Shaping something so different is exactly what this rework project is about and he did it perfectly.”
Reworks is set for release on May 12 via Usopop Diskak / Medication Time Records. Pre-order from Bandcamp.
