Video Premiere: Hermetic Delight’s ‘9 Lives Have Gone By’

The Strasbourg-based band release the latest track from their forthcoming LP, ‘Vagabond Melodies’.

Tomorrow, French / Turkish three-piece, Hermetic Delight, will release 9 Lives Have Gone By – the latest single and opening track from their forthcoming album, Vagabond Melodies, which is set for release on November 7 via October Tone.

Exclusive to Sun 13, be the first to watch / listen to the track below. Accompanied by the video created by Henri Gander, 9 Lives Have Gone By is the start of the Strasbourg-based band’s next chapter.

Consisting of Zeynep Kaya (vocals) Delphine Padilla (drums) Atef Aouadhi (guitar/ bass), Hermetic Delight have explored the inner grains of dream-pop and shoegaze during a 13 year period which has seen the band release the EPs, Heartbeat (2012), To the Grave to the Rave (2013) and Vow (2016) as well as their 2020 full-length, F.A Cult.

9 Lives Have Gone By sees Hermetic Delight pulling away from their past into the soft edges of art-pop. Kaya’s saccharine vocal, permeating with a summer sway, finding Hermetic Delight in similar orbits to Deerhoof. “In another time we’ll meet again / And we’ll celebrate,” sings Kaya. It’s the kind of admission you would expect to finish an album, not start one, making Vagabond Melodies an enticing proposition, and based on the strength of the preceding singles, this album may see the band reaching new ears.

Vagabond Melodies is out on November 7 via October Tone. Pre-order here.
