Video Premiere: SAVAK’s ‘Two Lamps’

The band share the latest track from their forthcoming LP, ‘Flavors Of Paradise’.

New York band SAVAK today share their latest single, Two Lamps.

The song which will feature on the band’s forthcoming album, Flavors Of Paradise, set for release on on March 1 via via Peculiar Works Music / Ernest Jenning Record Co.

A wiry, blues-punk stomp, Two Lamps maintains SAVAK’s key aesthetics, and as the fourth song unveiled from their forthcoming album, it’s another that suggests that Flavors Of Paradise will be another fine outing indeed.

Exclusive to Sun 13, be the first to watch the video for Two Lamps below.

Speaking of the track, band vocalist/guitarist, Sohrab Habibion, comments:

“Musically this is as close to Pailhead or Killing Joke as we’ve yet tread and I’m glad to see us dipping our toes there, as those records have been part of my musical DNA since I first heard them in the late ’80s. Lyrically this is commentary on power, control and perspective—two lamps light the room, but depending on where you are standing the view is different. Two camps divide us. Two mouths fight to speak. Two hands strangle us. And we have to ask ourselves if we are alive or if we’re living.”

Habibion (Obits, Edsel) formed SAVAK in 2015 alongside fellow vocalist /guitarist Michael Jaworski (The Cops, Virgin Islands), and drummer Matt Schulz (Holy Fuck, Enon). The live band features Jeff Gensterblum (Small Brown Bike, Her Head’s On Fire) on drums and bassist Matt Hunter (New Radiant Storm King, Silver Jews).

Flavors Of Paradise will be the band’s sixth long-player, and is dedicated Habbion’s fellow Obits bandmate and Hot Snakes leader, the late Rick Froberg.

Flavors Of Paradise is out on March 1 via Peculiar Works Music / Ernest Jenning Record Co. Pre-order from Bandcamp.
