Video Premiere: Bobhowla’s ‘Oh, Astrid’

The Southport four-piece share the lead track from forthcoming album, ‘What You’ve Lost Isn’t Failure’.

Southport’s Bobhowla has announced details of their follow-up to 2021’s Everything’s Wrong, But It’s Alright.

What You’ve Lost Isn’t Failure is set for release on May 16 via Merseyside label, 9 x 9 Records. Today the band share lead track, Oh Astrid, as well as a video for the live version, performed by vocalist/guitarist, Howard Doupe.

Exclusive to Sun 13, ahead of tomorrow’s release you can watch/ listen to both below.

Recorded at Southport’s The Arch Recording Studio alongside Rod Jones (Idlewild), What You’ve Lost Isn’t Failure sees Bobhowla exploring new terrains, led by single Oh, Astrid. A dose of sunny exotica folk that sits well in the band’s canon, with the hotter months ahead, Oh, Astrid is a timely arrival.

On the new single, vocalist / guitarist, Doupe, offers comment:

“This is one of those flashes of inspiration that just hit as quickly as it took to write. It’s the first feel-good anthem of the year, enticing hope, joyfulness and a rare call to celebrate all that you can.

“We’ve created a tune that you can whistle and dance to at the same time. With a flurry of a trumpet call to arms, it’s screaming out to soundtrack many a summers day ahead.”

What You’ve Lost Isn’t Failure will be available on multiple formats, including limited edition Eco-vinyl, CD and digital across all platforms.

In celebration of Bobhowla’s latest release, the band will play Liverpool’s Rough Trade on Friday May 16. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased here.

What You’ve Lost Isn’t Failure is out May 16 via 9 x 9 Records. Pre-order here.
