Ossayol are yet another act that have recently come to our attention.
Led by vocalist/ guitarist, Mickaël Pillisio (founder of OTSO Records) the three-piece French outfit arrived in 2019 with their debut record, 1990.
With brooding drama conceived from the embers of a forest campfire, 1990 is like a spirit lurking in the shadows. Primarily influenced by folk, the album’s last two tracks A Box and One Half of Me end the record emphatically.
After releasing singles, Haunted Head and Window in 2020, Ossayol return with their latest cut, Pillars, which you can watch exclusively below.
On a bedding of strings, Pillars is a moodier concern. Melding together the origins of post-rock and slow-core with bleak atmospheric reverence, here Ossayol dance in new fires and the results are promising. All told, it reminds us of Ossayol’s fellow countryman, Daren Muti, who featured around these parts at the beginning of 2021.
A strong offering, Pillars is the lead track from the band’s forthcoming sophomore release, Violent Expression of Desire, which is slated for a summer this year.
Stay tuned to Sun 13 for further updates.
