Video Premiere: Dez Dare’s ‘Brutalised Robotics’

The U.K.-based Australian artist shares his latest single.

Following the release of last year’s A Billion Goats. A Billion Sparks. Fin. U.K.-based Australian odyssey, Dez Dare, returns in 2025 with his first serving in the way of single, Brutalised Robotics.

Ahead of Friday’s release via God Unknown Records, exclusive to Sun 13, you can watch/listen to Brutalised Robotics below.

Brutalised Robotics is about drawing on parallels with how humanity exploits technology compared to how they treat all living beasts… What is consciousness? What is success for an organism? Dominance or longevity? One day all sentients will eventually pry the foot from their neck.

On the track, Dare is joined by God Unknown label mate, Laura Loriga, on backing vocals, in what is yet another great chapter from the Dez Dare story. Chiming electro rock that goes beyond the ideas Wire have explored in their later years, on Brutalised Robotics, Dez Dare continues to go down new paths.

More new music is on the way from Dez Dare (AKA Darren Smallman), who now resides in Brighton, U.K, having grown up Geelong, Victoria where he became involved in the local scene throughout the ’90s, sharing the stage with Australian greats, Cosmic Psychos, The Hard-Ons, Dirty Three and also post-hardcore legends, Fugazi.

Dez Dare tour dates:

  • Thursday, March 13: The Prince Albert, Brighton w/ bushpilot + The Jonny Halifax Invocation
  • Satuday March 15: Hyde Park Bookclub, Leeds w/ bushpilot + Lymon Willis
  • Wednesday April 9: New Cross Inn, London w/ Thee Alcoholics + more to be announced

Brutalised Robotics is out Friday via God Unknown Records. For more visit the Dez Dare website.
