LONESAW release new live performance/ritual film – watch/listen

Liverpool noise-extremists, LONESAW, need no introduction around these parts.

Following the release of the band’s debut EP, Lay in the Salt of the Soil, earlier this year, LONESAW return in 2021 with their new live performance and ritual film, Sol11°Taurus, Luna13°Capricorn (LIVE on Beltane).

Once again collaborating with the lingering spirit that is Jonathan Stonehouse (director of the band’s Barbed Wire Church video), the collaboration is a furnace filled with chaos, with Stonehouse and producer, Jack Wait, capturing the band’s searing live energy within the confines of Q U A R R Y; the new venue/studio run by the band.

Talking of the video, Stonehouse,who the band claim is their ‘magical advisor’ says:

“We always try to do something for Beltane (on which the ritual and performance was created) and this year we dressed the working up as a live music performance so we could better package the pearls.

“When Persephone returns from Hades, Demeter is appeased and allows the crops to grow; just as our own consciousness becomes fertile and illuminated as the waxing Sun  dispels the fear and uncertainty of Winter. Only when Persephone is found can Hecate down her torches. The name of the piece is simply a timestamp for when the ritual began.”

Oscillating between the ear-splitting carnage of Throbbing Gristle and the dark underbelly of post-punk, there’s not much more that needs to be said about this live performance. Just watch it…
