Aimèe Steven is one of the bright up and coming talents in Liverpool and following on from the folk-rock rumble of Darling, the Liverpool songstress returns with her latest single in Today.
A songwriter that wears her heart on her sleeve, presently there’s an unmatched locality with Steven’s songwriting qualities. Like all aspiring artists, lockdown has been the mother of all hindrances, but it hasn’t stopped Steven’s moving forward with new music – Today being her third single released in 2020.
Aimèe Steven - TodayShifting the goalposts somewhat, Today moves away from the gritty folk-rock leanings of Darling into a more accessible vein, with strings providing a significant backdrop to the track. Steven’s voice is more than capable of combating these orchestral showers with a beautiful chorus that is her finest yet.
With Today, Steven provides us with yet another dimension to her songcraft. It’s the best song we’ve heard from her so far.
2021 will no doubt be another downer of a year, but with the prospect of Aimèe Steven releasing an album, well, that’s something to look forward to, surely?
