Liverpool six-piece band, Rongorongo, return with their new track, Push – the second single from their long-awaited debut LP, The Shell of a Lullaby, which is set for release on September 4.
Ahead of tomorrow’s release of Push, exclusive to Sun 13, be the first to listen and watch the video for the track below.
Push follows lead single and album opener, No Sympathy. A staple of the band’s live set during much of this decade, with signature metallic echoes and Mick Chrysalid’s stirring vocals, Push is one of the The Shell of a Lullaby’s shining beacons. The band, capturing the live intensity of the song on tape with producer, Stephen Cole.
The video for Push was created by Rongorongo’s drummer and collage artist, Sam Gill. (The same artist responsible for the artwork to many of S13’s year end Top 50 Albums features.)
Speaking exclusively to S13, Chrysalid offers comment on the song:
“Push – a new world trying to be born, whilst the old one tries to abort it. A doomed romance or just a doomed man? Existence needs a confessional box mainly for the males of the species,” says Chrysalid. “The penny might have just dropped for this fictional Joe. There might just be an awakening for him but it all hangs in the balance. It’s a tightrope of a song.”
Following their recent appearance at the Outer Waves festival, to coincide with the release of Push, Rongorongo will play Liverpool’s Commune tomorrow night, July 31. Support comes from European Taxis.
