Track Premiere: Wade Easy’s ‘Dead Moons’

The Morgantown, West Virginia returns with the lead single to his forthcoming LP, ‘Sea of Night’.

We know the world is on its last legs for the obvious reasons. But for the not so obvious ones, when only a handful of people are lending an ear to the likes of Wade Easy, then one should really just submit to the apocalypse.

An overwrought take? Probably, but how the Morgantown, West Virginia songwriter has evaded so many (including our stupid selves initially), well… it’s beggar’s belief.

Easy’s debut LP, Sleeping With the Sun On, dropped last October, and with song titles like Space Age Cake, Gamma Waltz and Floating Nowhere, it can’t be anything but good. And, of course, it is.

Mastered by Carl Saff, Sleeping With the Sun On is a sprawl of droning, outsider rattlesnake blues for lonely hearts and rundown roadhouses. Easy’s new single, Dead Moons follows the same path. Taken from Easy’s follow-up to Sleeping With the Sun On, Sea of Night is set for release on May 1. And exclusive to Sun 13, ahead of Friday’s release, listen to it below.

Speaking about Dead Moons, Easy says, “Something’s brewin’ and there ain’t no shore to it.” Floating nowhere, indeed. Or perhaps Easy is speaking of the above-mentioned apocalypse? As he sings, “I’ve been believing / In something so strange / You’d have to see it / To know what I mean,” it’s evident that the songwriter has a talent for the truth. These days, something that is lacking all across the board.

Sea of Night is out May 1. Pre-order from Bandcamp.
