13 Questions with Broncho

Ahead of their first album in seven years, the Tulsa-based act are the latest to run the 13 Questions gauntlet.

Broncho may be a new name to many of our readers, but this Friday sees the Tulsa, Oklahoma-based quartet release their fifth album, Natural Pleasure, their first for seven years.

The album is a many textured affair where shoegaze/ dream-pop instrumentation meets The Flaming Lips waywardness. Consisting of Ryan Lindsey (vocals, guitar), Ben King (guitar), Penny Pitchlynn (bass) and Nathan Price (drums), Broncho reveal themselves to be a band with disregard for genre conventions and Natural Pleasure takes delight in constantly defying expectation, with one surprise turn after another keeping the listener on their toes throughout.

There is depth and experience here and repeated listens to Natural Pleasure soon shows it to be a richly textured and mature album. Broncho may have delivered one of 2025’s best surprises.

Broncho were good enough to take part in our regular 13 Questions feature. Read on to see more about arguing with yourself, cherry ice and waiting for your best night out.

7. What’s the best night out you’ve ever had?

RL: “I still haven’t had one yet. I’ve had some runner up best nights but not the best night yet. I’m hoping for that to change soon. I’d love to experience what that feels like.”

8. Vinyl, CD, MP3 or Streaming?

RL: “Vinyl for the sound, stream for the convenience.”

9. What is your favourite view?

RL: “There’s this time of year where the sun lines up perfectly with westbound streets I drive on. When it’s setting, the sun looks huge. And I look at it. Just a tiny little bit. And I take pictures of it.”

10. When did you last shout at the TV?

RL: “Just earlier. I’m starting to rethink my approach, however.  I’m thinking I might try asking if there’s anything it needs.  And if there’s anything I can do to help.”

11. What was the first gig you went to?

RL: “My mom snuck me and my brothers into a bar to watch my uncle play.”

12. Can you tell us a secret?

RL: “I left it under the sink, behind the towels, and away from the cleaner. But close to the scrubber.”

13. Thanks for taking the time to answer our questions.  Is there anything else you’d like to say?

RL: “You’re absolutely welcome, and thanks for having us. Nothing I can think of to add other than, I’m working on an all new unscented fragrance. And hoping it will be ready by the start of tour.”
