As a part of this year’s Record Store Day, Greg Anderson of Sunn O))), Engine Kid et al will release the debut full-length album under the moniker, The Lord, titled Forest Nocturne.
Following its release on April 23 via Southern Lord, Forest Nocturne will be available on digital and further LP formats on July 29.
Inspired by film composers, John Carpenter and Bernard Hermann, Forest Nocturne sees Anderson team up with frequent Sunn O))) collaborator, Attila Csihar, of Norwegian black metal band Mayhem, for the album’s closing track, Triumph of the Oak.
You can listen to the track below.
Following Forest Nocturne’s release, The Lord plans to release a follow-up later in the year alongside collaborator Petra Haden (vocals, violin), who first worked with Anderson during his time in the venerable Goatsnake, and later with Sunn O))) on the ØØ Void LP.
