Mess Esque share new single from forthcoming album – watch/listen

The duo release ‘Jupiter’; the second single from their second album of 2021.

Mess Esque, the Australian duo of Helen Franzmann (McKisko) and Mick Turner (Dirty Three) have announced the second single ahead of their forthcoming self-titled sophomore album, which lands on October 22 via Drag City.

Following the band’s first single, Take It Outside, Mess Esque share an alternative mix of Jupiter with the music video directed by Lucy Dyson.

You can watch/listen below.

Mess Esque follows the band’s debut album, Dream #12, which was released earlier this year via Australian label, Bedroom Suck Records. You can read a review of that below.

Mess Esque: Dream #12 – “the essence of something special”

While an alternative mix that’s sliced down from the 10 minute album version, per the press release, Jupiter (Mix) sees Mess Esque, “stargaze at kites lolling sensually in the night as they float, somnolent, above the darkened sea and sky. Careful edits strip away some of the gaseous mists, focusing the track into a roiling nocturne that passes through erotic, narcotic and abstract phrases in a judicious, deeply satisfying five minutes.”

In summary, we’ve had a sneak preview of the album and those enamoured with the luscious sound worlds of Dream #12 will be equally thrilled with the results on Mess Esque.

Stay tuned on Sun 13 for an interview with Mess Esque in the months ahead.
