Track Premiere: Tatiana Paris’ ‘Hibbon’

The French avant-gardist will release her second full-length release in November.

French artist, Tatiana Paris, has announced details of her follow-up full-length release to 2022 debut, Gibbon.

T h a l l e will be released on November 14, again via Carton Records. Following more than 40 concerts in support of Gibbon, including appearances at Festival Météo, L’Atelier du Plateau, Jazz à La Villette and Baignade Sauvage, t h a l l e sees Paris enter a new chapter where prepared guitar, voice, and modular synthesis interact with the organ.

Sonically inhabited in similar sound worlds to Kali Malone and Ellen Arkbro, the title refers to a plant without roots or leaves: lichens, algae. A presence in the world that unfolds discreetly, like a tree covering or a blanket over the sea.

Speaking of the album, Paris says, “t h a l l e is a subject of randomness and correlation. How do desynchronized elements form a harmonic whole? I can feel great joy in organizing the chaos of these materials, which, through tiny encounters, align in the same time.”

Exclusive to Sun 13, ahead of its digital release on Wednesday July 2, be the first to listen to lead single, Hibbon:

Speaking about the track, Paris comments:

“Hibbon is born from the extinction of the organ and the harmonics that emerge from the disappearance of breath, depending on the cluster played just before the machine shuts down. It is a rather solemn piece in which I summon my own liturgy, with the help of an auto-tuned choir. The fuzzed chimes sound like inner bells — a celebration. Altogether, it’s a kind of harmonized cry directed toward the divine, wherever it may reside in the silence.”
