On a November Saturday evening at the 2024 edition of Utrecht’s Le Guess Who? festival, Abul Mogard and Rafael Anton Irisarri delivered one of the day’s best performances in the Jacobikerk church.
Earlier today, the pair released a recording of their stunning performance, which is now available via Mogard’s and Irisarri’s respective Bandcamp pages.
Mastered by Stephan Mathieu at Schwebung, alongside several other cuts, the duo performed Place of Forever and Waking Up Dizzy on a Bastion, compositions from their collaboration LP, Impossibly distant, impossibility close, which was released in May last year.

Abul Mogard & Rafael Anton Irisarri - Live at Le Guess Who?Taking place a day after the release of Irisarri’s excellent solo LP, FAÇADISMS (which featured in Sun 13’s Top 50 Albums of 2025), this live recording perfectly captures the intensity of their performance. The Jacobikerk’s 13th century walls, sweaty, battered and bruised after 52 minutes of droning splendour.
For those who were there, it was the kind of performance that still remains etched to the mind.
Aul Mogard and Rafael Anton Irisarri Live at Le Guess Who? is out now. Purchase here and here.
